IFR Procedures - Advanced
3 Days - Simulator and Academics
This course is written as a comprehensive advanced instrument flying and knowledge training event. Our flagship instrument training course, it is not just a re-hash of instrument fundamentals. Designed for the pilot who wants a comprehensive scenario based review of advanced instrument procedures and an immersive IFR experience that challenges and refines flying skills and knowledge. Guaranteed to take you to the margin of your comfort zone with challenges you don’t routinely encounter, it produces exception learning. Includes a range of IFR approaches and situations, tailored to require your best skill. Structured to challenge the professional and tailored to your individual experience, it will test and enhance your procedural knowledge and instrument flying skills, regardless of your current level of experience or proficiency. Our FITS-compliant Advanced Instrument Course is three days and includes 6 to 8 hours of loggable simulator time and 6 hours of academics. You will fly a range of IFR procedures and operational situations. Suitable for multi-engine and single engine aircraft; Turbo-prop, Jet and Piston.
- Instrument Approaches (Minimum 9)
- LOFT Scenarios with Departure, Arrival, Approach, Missed Approach and Divert
- Upset Recovery/Unusual Attitudes
- Limited Emergency Procedures and OEI (multi-engine) tasks
- GPS Approaches (including WAAS)
- Procedure turns, Missed Approaches and Holding
- Circling (Min-3)
- One Engine Inoperative Operations (Multi-Engine)
- Low Visibility Taxi and Night Instrument Conditions
- High Density Traffic/Mountainous Airports
- Academic review of FARs, DP’s, ODP’s, SID’s, STARs and TERPS

Not a “cookie cutter” training program – each course is tailored to match your training objectives, level of proficiency, experience and the demands of your flying. Instrument time and procedures are loggable for 61.57(c) recency requirements. Pilots enrolling with logged instrument currency may extend currency up to 6 months. This course includes 9 instrument approaches and is targeted for pilots operating fixed wing aircraft- multi-engine, piston, turboprop or jet or single engine high performance piston, turboprop or jet.
IFR Procedures - Proficiency
2 Days - Simulator and Academics
This course is written for the pilot with an instrument rating who flies more VFR than IFR, but wants to re-hone the IFR skills to the level of the instrument rating. The moderate pace of the course is designed to allow the pilot to comfortably re-acquire the instrument scan and refresh IFR knowledge and procedures while regaining proficiency. Can be flown in a single engine or multi-engine simulator. This course reviews must know regulations, instrument procedures and knowledge needed to operate safely under IFR in the National Airspace System. Strengthens both knowledge and proficiency. Instrument time and procedures loggable for 61.57(c)(4) recency requirements. Pilots enrolling with logged instrument currency may extend currency up to 6 months.
This 2 day course includes 4 hours of simulator time and 4 hours of academics:
- Minimum of 8 Instrument Approaches
- Upset Recovery/Unusual Attitudes
- Minimum 2 GPS Approaches (May include WAAS)
- Procedure turns, Missed Approaches, Holding (Minimum 1 Circling Approach)
- Low Visibility and Night Instrument Conditions, CFIT avoidance
